Beaumont, TX- St. Anne's Catholic School
On May 28th 2011 President and Executive Director, Carlos J. López, had the opportunity to visit with soon-to-be graduates of the Mexican Institute of Greater Houston's Basic Computer Technology and Application course at the St. Anne's Catholic School in Beaumont, TX. The course strengthens the skills of Hispanic adults which represent a large segment of the workforce in the area. Once again, Mr. López was able to encourage the group to continue on their path of education and success while learning about their personal experiences and goals. The MIGH counts on the help and willingness of dedicated instructors, tutors, schools, and other partners for its Community Learning Centers (CLC’s) to make the courses available in cities outside the greater Houston area—such as Beaumont and San Antonio. Ms. Carmen Alvarez, pictured below, standing on the right, is the longtime representative and instructor for MIGH in Beaumont where the student groups continue to grow. Program expansion is expected to continue now that MIGH has received funding under the economic stimulus package of the U.S. Government.
